She smiled seeing that most of the younger boys were writing about Buffalo Bill Cody and adding graphic pictures to their essays.

When she stopped at Jimmy’s desk she watched as the boy painstakingly worked out every letter, then compared his words to the print in the book next to him.

He was writing about his father, and Wendi choked back a tear at the words she read. Although the boy’s words were sloppy and awkward, what he wrote touched her heart.

Alright class, I think we’ve worked on this assignment long enough, now it’s time for our biology lesson.
